WEEK 10: TIME FLIES..JUST NOT ME

Image
This is the point in the semester that is stressful yet exciting because I can feel how close summer is yet there are so many assignments in between then and now. I know I will make it so I will not stress it will all be over in due time.. right now I am still focused on collecting data for my project.  I started to get more organized and decided to make a spreadsheet with all my recordings and it has worked out well so far! I have received the help of Josh who helped me change the setup of how I collect my data since at first I was just getting too much data that had no relation to each other and it made no sense. However, now I am on the right track I am looking forward to seeing what relationships show up from the data from both the aloe vera and lantana plants.

WEEK 12: Stress of Success

I can almost feel summer inch closer and closer each day I step outside its sickening lowkey I am not ready I don't think but honestly how does one even prepare for 100-degree plus weather?! I believed I would be starting phase 2 of my project this week but that was surely shot down by Josh when we discovered my data was missing heavy information. This left me a bit frustrated and hurt at first because I am ready to have some action during this project however Josh made me realize that I still have time and it is better to have as much data as possible before digging up my plants and seeing how they will react to stress. I am putting more stress on myself than testing the stress within my plants and that was not the plan at all however stay tuned for more action to come!

WEEK 11: Plants Woes

Image
Heyy welcome to Spring🌸! My plants are during well with all the rain we have received throughout the past couple of weeks. I have been a little static in my project because I have been collecting data which is not that exciting over several weeks. However, next week I am happy that I am finally able to move on to the action portion of my project which is when I get to stress my plant!! I am excited to see what happens next since I have been so focused on gathering data that I have not been able to fully enjoy the magic of my project and it will surely be a delight to see how these plants react.

WEEK 9: Slow YET Steady

Was it me or did spring break fly by in a blink of an eye?? I did not go into the lab this week so I do not have any actual updates this week but I will be discussing what I think happened to my plants while on break. I am expecting to return to healthy, bright, and moist Lantana and aloe plants due to the rain over break. Over the next two weeks, I plan to gather more measurements for each plant, comparing numbers their numbers, and draw conclusions to finish my report. In the meantime enjoy this random photo I took one day while in the lab!

WEEK 7: Starting From The Bottom

Hello! This is my  background section  for my paper please provide any feedback that will be helpful to improve this section of my project. Thank you all so much and this is a photo of the aloe vera plant I am working with during this semester.

WEEK 6: Plants Are Rad

Hello everyone! This week has been an interesting week, to say the least, and it was jam-packed with adventure to write novel times three. I started working on my project with Josh this week and we are off to a wonderful start. I had no clue what flower to choose when Josh asked "what plant will you be studying?" Until one morning I walked to the lab and a hummingbird flew right in front of my face and starts feeding from the flower below as known as a Lantana. The real answer to Josh's question is the plant choose me in the end. I will be looking at aloe too which is kinda cool to me too because I use aloe for almost everything my skin, hair, scars, etc. so it will be nice to see what I discover. Now, that I am working for hands on my project I am more excited about it as time progresses and hope to find some captivating discoveries about Lantanas and aloe vera.

WEEK 5 : Plant Mom To The Rescue

Image
Hello! It has been an eventful past couple of weeks in my neck of the woods however things are calming down finally but not enough I am beyond ready for spring break! This week I did get a huge chunk of my project done which was very exciting for me. The topic I chose with the help of Josh is the Plant ECG. I am geeked to be working with plants in my project because I become a plant mom last year and have been obsessed with plants ever since. I am most looking forward to finding out if plants have a response to stressors put on them.
